NWAV Asia-Pacific Region 2 will be held at the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics and the Institute of Statistical Mathematics.

The National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics and the Institute of Statistical Mathematics are located in Tachikawa, approximately 40 km west of the center of Tokyo. The neighborhood of Tachikawa features several department stores, numerous restaurants, izakaya, bars, and pubs, as well as one of the largest cinemas in Tokyo.

It has easy access by public transportation from the airports and downtown Tokyo. The closest train stops to the conference site are Takamatsu Station on the Tama Toshi Monorail Line[official website] and Tachikawa Station on the JR (Japan Railways) Chuo Line, Nambu Line, Ome Line, and Itsukaichi Line.

BUS (Fare: ¥170) Time Table

The bus terminal is located at the north exit of JR Tachikawa Station(立川駅北口). Take a bus bound for Ooyama-Danchi(大山団地)from Platform 2, and get off at Tachikawa Academic Plaza(立川学術プラザ). The bus stop is just in front of the main gate.

RAIL (Fare: ¥100) Time Table

Take the Tama Monorail(多摩モノレール)for Kamikitadai(上北台)and get off at Takamatsu Station(高松). It takes 10 minutes by walk from the station. Tachikawa Minami and Kita Stations on the Tama Toshi Monorail Line and Tachikawa Station on the JR lines are connected via a pedestrian walkway.

The National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics(国立国語研究所) is walkable from the Institute of Statistical Mathematics.

AIRPORT TRAVEL

Haneda Airport (Tokyo International Airport; HND) is located 56 km from Tachikawa. It takes approximately 85-105 minutes to travel from the airport to Tachikawa Station via the Keihin Kyuko Bus (¥1,500 per trip). The ticket counter is located on the second level (Arrival Lobby), and the bus stop is on the first floor of the airport.

Narita International Airport (NRT) is located 110 km from Tachikawa. It takes approximately 2 hours (3 hours, depending on the traffic) to travel from the airport to Tachikawa Station by airport limousine buses. The shuttle buses leave from the arrival level on the first floor of the airport. A ride for one passenger between Narita Airport and Tachikawa Station is ¥3,500. Tickets for the buses can be purchased at the ticket counters before proceeding to the bus stops.

DOWNTOWN TOKYO

The JR Chūō Line connects between Tokyo Station, Shinjuku and Tachikawa Station. It takes 43 min. from Tachikawa Station to Shinjuku Station and 57 min. to Tokyo Station.
