CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS ON 14 DECEMBER 2013

We welcome your poster presentations dealing with theoretical as well as descriptive issues surrounding verb-verb complexes in Japanese and other Asian languages. No preference is given for theoretical approaches, including morphology, semantics, syntax, language-particular studies, cross-linguistic or typological orientations, historical development, and dialectal variation. In formulating the topic and abstract, applicants should take a look at the position paper ( click here ) which explains the major issues addressed in this conference.

    • English preferred.

    • 1 August 2013
  • Submission
    • E-mail your 1-page abstract (A4 or letter size in PDF) to:
    • vvconference AT ninjal.ac.jp (Replace AT with @ and remove the spaces before and after it).
  • Abstract
    • Your abstract should be anonymous and contain the following information: the category "Poster presentation", the title, text, examples/illustrations, and selected references.
    • Attach a separate letter indicating your name, affiliation, abstract title, and e-mail address.
  • Financial support
    • Part of the travel expenses will be subsidized by NINJAL for a few selected graduate students whose abstracts are accepted.
  • Instructions for Poster Presenters
    • Your poster should be in English and maximally A0 size, i.e., 118.9 cm (wide) by 84.1 cm (high). You will have a poster board this size to display your poster (more about this below). Please try to use a large font size in your poster, so that the audience can easily understand your poster when they stand, say, 1 meter away from it.
    • Posters can be affixed to the board with pins. We will prepare sufficient pins for each poster.
    • The poster session will be held in the space just outside the Lecture Hall where the oral presentations will be given.
    • Please affix your poster to the board by noon on the day of the presentation. Please make sure to use the board marked with your poster number (e.g., "No. 5").
    • You can keep your poster on the board until the end of the final session of the day.
    • Please feel free to distribute subsidiary materials such as handouts, photocopies of your poster, and copies of your paper. You can also use your laptop computer if you find it helpful.
    • Please let us know in advance if you want to borrow any special devices from us such as speakers or extension cords (for electricity).

    Papers dealing with the second (or first) language acquisition of Japanese compound verbs are welcome.
