We had a wonderful conference thanks to the many people involved in it - speakers, discussants, chairs, poster presenters, volunteers, and the enthusiastic audience.
Japanese dialects, many of which are currently endangered, display a wide variety of accent systems. ISAT (International Symposium on Accent and Tone) is a forum for descriptive and theoretical research on these accent systems in comparison with those of accent and tone languages all over the world. ISAT is financially supported by a collaborative research grant from the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL), titled 'Phonological Characteristics of the Japanese Lexicon'.
ISAT will be held once a year, addressing certain themes each year. The main themes of ISAT 2010 are:
(1) Typology of prosodic systems
(2) Prosodic systems of endangered languages and dialects
