• 「セミフォーマル研究の提案」
  二階堂 整 (福岡女学院大学 教授)
  

  セミフォーマルというスタイルを，フォーマル (共通語使用) とカジュアル (方言使用) の中間のスタイルと位置づけ，今後，日本語におけるセミフォーマルの研究を進めるべきとした。
  セミフォーマルかどうかは，話者による意識の判断でなされ，セミフォーマルを示す語形があるとする。さらに状況として，中間的要素が存在するとした。
  このセミフォーマルについて，具体的例をあげながら，説明した。

• 「Stylistic changes in the local assembly speeches in Nagoya: a case of Takeshi Kawamura」

  This paper focused on a mayor of Nagoya, Takashi Kawamura to examine how his speech style had changed through his career as politician from 1990s. In particular, I collected minutes from the National Diet Minute and from Nagoya City Assembly Minutes. I also obtained audio-visual materials from the National Diet Minute and from Nagoya City Assembly Minute. I claimed that Kawamura's Japanese had a large degree of stylistic variation, which should be studied in detail in the future.

• 「A Geo-pragmatic Study of Japanese Disagreement in the Minutes of Local Assemblies: Sapporo vs. Osaka」

  This paper described regional differences in pragmatic strategies of Japanese disagreement by comparing the minutes of Sapporo City Assembly with those of Osaka City Assembly as analytical data. Approximately 100 speaker turns of disagreement per region were extracted from video clips of the meetings available on the internet, and reconstructed versions of existing transcriptions in the minutes were analyzed in terms of the uses of style, communicative strategies, conversational fillers, discourse markers, and word choices for emphasis and mitigation. The results demonstrated that the ways of speaking specific to Osaka City Assembly members in expressing their disagreement involve affluent uses of fillers and indirect communicative strategies as compared with those of Sapporo City Assembly members, and such regional differences became even more salient in spontaneous speech style. The study also pointed out regional differences in the patterns of exploitation of particular styles, which should be investigated further in the framework of communities of practice.
