Information for presenters

Specific instructions for speakers

Each talk is 30 minutes long including the time for questions and comments. Please aim to speak for up to 20 minutes and leave at least 10 minutes for questions and comments.

A projector will be available at the conference. If you are doing a PowerPoint presentation, it would be best if you use your own laptop,
as there may be problems (with alignment, fonts, etc.) if you switch computers. However, if you wish, we would be happy to lend you a laptop. If this is your preference, please let us know in advance whether you need PC/Windows or Mac.

We highly recommend that you use a handout even if you make a powerpoint presentation. For your convenience, the student assistants at the conference will be able to make photocopies for you. In order to have this service, your handout must be on A4 sheets and must not exceed 10 printed pages. The assistants will need to have your original the day before your presentation, e.g., by 3:00 pm on Thursday if your presentation is on Friday. Please bring your original to the registration desk (to the registration desk of the international workshops on Thursday, October 11th, if your presentation is on the first day of the conference, i.e. Friday, October 12th). Alternatively, you can of course make photocopies on your own. In this case, please bring 150 copies to the registration desk at the beginning of the morning session of your presentation day.

Specific instructions for poster presenters

The maximum size for your poster is A0, i.e., 118.9 cm (wide) by 84.1 cm (high).

Please try to use a large font size in your poster, so that the audience can easily understand your poster when they stand, say, 1 meter away from it.

Posters can be affixed to the board with either pins or tape. We will prepare sufficient pins/tape for each poster.

The poster session will be held in the 2nd-floor atrium, just outside the lecture hall.

Poster presentations are divided into two sessions. Poster Session 1 will be on Friday, October 12th, and Poster Session 2 will be on Saturday, October 13th. Each poster session will run from 15:05 to 16:10. Presenters of odd-numbered posters should stand at their posters from 15:05 to 15:50, and presenters of even-numbered posters should stand at their posters from 15:25 to 16:10. Please check your poster number in the program in advance.

Please affix your poster to the board by noon on the day of the presentation. Please make sure to use the board marked with your poster number.

You can keep your poster on the board until the end of the final session of the day.

Please feel free to distribute subsidiary materials such as handouts or photocopies of your poster. You can also use your laptop computer if you find it helpful.

Please let us know in advance if you need to borrow any special devices from us such as speakers or extension cords (for electricity).
